Guide for translators

From Teaching Children Philosophy, a Project of Thomas Wartenberg

This guide is intended to assist in the translation of this website into additional languages.

  1. Click "edit" on the page you wish to translate, and add "{{Languages}}" at the top of the edit box, on its own line. Select all of the text in the edit window, and copy it to your clipboard. Save the page by clicking on the tab below the box.
  2. In the address of the page on your browser, add a slash, followed by the two-letter abbreviation code for the language you are translating the page into.
    • For example, if you were translating the Main Page into Spanish, the address would look like /wiki/Main_Page/es
  3. Hit enter, then click "edit this page." A new blank edit window will appear.
  4. Paste the text you copied into the edit box.
  5. Translate the text while maintaining the code for formatting, images, and links. You can refer to the information on how to add a book module for assistance. It is recommended that you save your work periodically!
  6. Make sure to save the final version before leaving.
  7. When you are making a book module, you should add an "/es" before each of the "|" in each line that specifies a category.

This way we'll have a separate page for the Spanish Book Modules, though we will need to leave the categories themselves in English. We'll be in touch about any further developments as we research all of this.

Let us know if you have any problems following these directions.

Thanks for making Teaching Children Philosophy an even more useful resource!
